McLean Mix Events and Fees En Route: 2008+

PLEASE NOTE:  Due to greatly increased fuel and motel costs, we have had no choice but to institute a program where a transportation fee is charged beyond the "en route" price quoted below.  During the past two years, these charges have ranged between $50 and $350, depending on distance of venue from previous and next venues in the tour, day of the week, number of days in residency (charges are waived or reduced in multiday stays), general population density and likihood of securing other venues nearby, etc.  When we give you a quote, these charges will be incorporated into the quote.

~ Natural Energy.   The main concert event featuring new live audio with video, and performance on keyboards, voice, percussion, experimental instruments.  Beautiful sound and image sources  focusing on natural and human energies. Fee:  $450 plus lodging and meals.  

~ McLean Mix Lecture-Demonsration entitled "Music on the Edge," for an evening audience, convocation, or class.. Designed for a more limited budget and simpler setup. Fee: $250 plus lodging and meals. Usually we need to do this in conjunction with a larger event in the same city or nearby town.

~ "Rainforest" audience-interactive improvisation installation. Easily set up. Audience "performs" rainforest-like sounds on keyboards, microphones, acoustic instruments in five stations in an atmospheric and evocative setting. Typically runs 5-7 hours/day with the McLeans present at all times interacting with the audience. Special classes or demos can be inserted. See separate brochure. 1 day: $700. Each additional day, $500. Plus lodging  and meals.  For limited budgets where travel is close to home (near Albany, NY) one person can run installation, with reduced fee.Special prices available for venues within 150 miles of our home base in Petersburg, NY (east of Albany).

~ "Jambori Rimba," developed through a grant from the Universiti Malaysia, with 3-month residency in Borneo. Eight creative stations exploring Borneo native cultural, environmental, and musical concepts. Multidisciplinary, multicultural, multimedia, with eight creative audio and video stations including virtual reality. Designed for 3 or more days minimum. Fee: $800 first day, $500 each additional day, $500 prior setup day fee, plus lodging and meals.

~Combined residency with "Natural Energy" & "Rainforest." A very popular mini-residency package with two days of the "Rainforest" installations followed by the concert. Advantages: the two days of intensive interaction with the McLeans builds a large audience for the concert. Along with the installations, special classes can be scheduled at any time during the first two days. We suggest:

3 days: 2 days of installation and the third day setup and perform concert: $1600

2 days: 1 day of installation and one day setup and perform concert: $1100

~Combined residency with "Natural Energy" & "Jambori Rimba ."  A wonderfully intense two days of one of our most elaborate and sophisticated audience-interactive installations,  followed by the concert. Advantages: The installation experience brings in a host of multicultural, multidisciplinary and multimedia forces (such as the "virtual reality" creative dance station).  Along with the installations, special classes can be scheduled at any time during the first two days. We suggest:

4 days: 3 days of installation and the fourth day setup and perform concert, plus an initial day of JR setup: $2450

3 days: 2 days of installation and the third day setup and perform concert, plus an initial day of JR setup: $2050

~ Combined residency with Lecture/Demonstration "Music on the Edge" & "Rainforest" We suggest:

3 days: 2 days of installation and the last day setup and performance of lecture/concert: $1650

2 days: 1 day of installation and the last day setup and perform lecture/concert: $1100

~ Combination "Rainforest" and Lecture/Demonstration in one day. We would need to set up the evening before, and run "Rainforest" until c. 3 pm, then prepare for the evening event. Setup for both events would need to be in same space. $900.

~ Music About and From the Wilderness Works selected from our repertoire featuring sounds and sights of nature. Suggested for Earth Day, nature-based venues such as botanical gardens, environmental studies programs, or actually for any community or university audience. Children are encouraged to attend.  $500.

~ Lectures with slides/video/sound:  ~ Technology and the Art of the Future. ~ Women Composers, Past and Present. ~ The Arts and the Environment: A Personal Exploration ~ The Independent Composer and Survival: New Opportunities

~ Other combinations possible, including extended residencies and orchestral/chamber. We also encourage situations where local ensembles participate with us and/or perform our other existing chamber ensemble works, possibly in a package with a McLean Mix performance. Please give us your ideas.

If you need a sound system, we can provide rentals under certain conditions,, but we usually prefer to use the host's system. We provide all performance instruments, but may need one or two slide projectors and/or a video projector and screen for some events. This is negotiable. Lodging and meals need to be furnished with all events. Lodging can be in a motel or home  All fees are "en route" unless otherwise specified.
